ALS Association Nevada Chapter is a nonprofit 501(c)(3) organization serving people with ALS and their families throughout the Silver State. Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis, or ALS, is a fatal motor neuron disease often called Lou Gehrig’s disease after the New York Yankees baseball icon that was diagnosed with it in 1939 and died two years later. ALS affects the cells in the brain and spinal cord that control voluntary muscle movement, progressively decreasing physical function, leading to total paralysis, and eventually death.

ALS Nevada’s goal is to help people with ALS and their families live as full and as normal lives as possible. Their programs include in-home visits, medical equipment loans, counseling, a resource library, support meetings and more.
